China Aerospace Science & Industry Corporation (CASIC)
Headquartered in Beijing, China Aerospace Science & Industry Corporation (CASIC) was formed in July 1999 when the state owned CASC was broken up into two separate corporations. The company was originally known as China Aerospace Machinery & Electronics Corporation (CAMEC), but later adopted its current name. The CASIC consists of seven research academies, two R&D and manufacturing bases, and a number of research institutes and factories. The corporation has six publicly-listed companies and over 150 member firms, with nearly 100,000 employees in total.
The corporation offers a range of defence and aerospace products and services, covering missiles, spacecraft, telecommunications and electronic systems, and special vehicles and machinery. The corporation is specialised in the solid-propellant rocket technology, and has developed a range of missiles and space launch vehicles.
