The 51 Base (96101 Unit) headquartered in Shenyang, Liaoning Province consists of four missile launch brigades (806, 810, 816, 822). The base is equipped with four different types of ballistic missiles ranging from SRBM to ICBM in order to cover different targets.
The newly-formed 806 Brigade (96111 Unit) is equipped with the DF-31 nuclear ICBM targeting the North America region. It was the second unit to be equipped with DF-31 in the PLA. The brigade is stationed in Hancheng, a small town in Weinan City of the central Shaanxi Province, several hundred miles away from the base headquarters.
The 810 Brigade (96113 Unit) is the only unit in the Second Artillery still equipped with the obsolete DF-3A (CSS-2A) nuclear IRBM. The unit is stationed in the Jinzhou District of Dalian City, Liaoning Province. These missiles are possibly used to target U.S. military bases in South Korea, Japan, and Guam.
The 816 Brigade (96115 Unit) is equipped with the DF-15 (CSS-6) conventional SRBM to cover targets in the Northeast Asia. The unit is based in Tonghua, Jilin Province.
The 822 Brigade (96117 Unit) equipped with the DF-21 (CSS-5) nuclear MRBM is stationed in Laiwu City of the eastern Shandong Province.
