The PLA signal corps develops, maintains, and operates communications and information systems to provide non-stop support for the command and control of combined arms forces. Its roles, missions, and activities include:
Communications in supporting army command and control;
Communications in supporting joint service operations;
Communications in rear regions;
Intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR);
Communications with aviation and naval forces;
Radio communication countermeasures and intelligence;
Military postal service
Working with civilian sectors to support the communications of party and government leadership in wartime.
