The 8th Armoured Division was previously subordinated to the 67th GA, and was reassigned to the 26th GA in 1998 following the disband of the 67th GA. The division is headquartered in Weifang, Shangdong Province. The division has three subordinated armoured regiments (29th, 30th, and 31st), which are equipped with the Type 59D, Type 79, and Type 96 main battle tanks.
