The Jinan Military Region Air Force (MRAF), headquartered in Jinan, Shandong Province, is one of the seven MRAFs under of the PLA Air Force. It is the air component of the Jinan Military Region (MR), responsible for the air defence of Eastern China, and also providing air support for the ground and naval forces. The Jinan MRAF is under the dual leadership of the Headquarters Air Force (HqAF) and the Jinan MR. The commander of the Jinan MRAF is concurrently a deputy commander of the Jinan MR.
Aviation element of the Jinan MRAF include the 5th Attacker Division (Weifang), 12th Fighter Division (Jinan, Wendeng), 19th Fighter Division (Zhengzhou, Jining), and 1st Reconnaissance Regiment (Wendeng). The MRAF Training Base (formerly 31st Fighter Division) based at Xintai has been reportedly merged with the Nanjing MRAF Training Base.
Aircraft deployed by Jinan MRAF include Su-27 (one regiment), J-7B (3~4 regiments), and Q-5 (2~3 regiments). The 1st Reconnaissance Regiment is equipped with JZ-6 reconnaissance aircraft but these aircraft may no longer be airworthy.
Major airbases include Weifang (Shandong), Wendeng (Shandong), Jinan (Shandong), and Zhengzhou (Henan).
There is no air defence element in the Chengdu MRAF.
Command and control elements of the Chengdu MRAF include a radar brigade.
