The PLA Navy is currently developing a single-barrel 130mm Gun Weapon System for installation on future large surface combatants. The system is lightweight, fully-automatic, designed to provide long-range, high-volume fires against surface and land targets. It has the ability to fire both conventional 130mm projectiles and future precision-guidance ammunitions. The rate of fire is 25~40 rounds/minute. The programme started in 2005.
