HY-4 LAND-TO-SHIP MISSILE
The HaiYing-4 (HY-4, also known as C-401 in its export name; NATO codename: CSS-C-7 Sadsack) is the land-to-ship missile developed from the HY-2. The main improvement of the HY-4 is the replacement of the original liquid-fuel rocket motor on the HY-2 with a turbojet engine, which extends the missile’s range to 150km. The HY-4 is similar to the HY-2 in appearance, but with a slightly shorter and lighter missile body. The missile has an air inlet under the fuselage. Like the later variants of the HY-2, the HY-4 is also fitted with a mono-pulse radar seeker with improved accuracy. An air-launched land-attack cruise missile (LACM) known as XW-41 has been developed on the basis of the HY-4.
