The PLA Navy received a new type of medium landing ship, reprotedly debuted Type 074A, in 2005. The ship hull features a special arrangement with the superstructure positioned on the starboard side. No detailed information is available at this stage, but the ship is believed to be around 800t displacement. Weapons include two 14.5mm anti-aircraft machine guns. So far at least seven units have been identified, with more units expected to be built in the future.
