The radar consists of four Yagi antennas in two cross-braced support pairs, each pair mounted on each side of a single tubular support carried on a turning gear. An improved variant, possibly designated Type 517H-1, features eight Yagi antennas in four cross-braced support pairs. The radar has been deployed on most PRC-built surface combatants for early warning role.
