The radar is designed to guide the HQ-7 shipboard SAM. A system consists of one 8-cell SAM launcher and a Type 345 radar. On some surface combatants, the radar is used for the fire-control of both HQ-7 SAM and two Type 76A dual-37mm AAA guns.
