The SLC-4 is a C-band long-range phased-array surveillance radar designed to track ballistic missiles and spacecraft during the ascend and re-entry stages of their flights. The radar system can be mounted on a semi-trailer for road-mobile ability. The radar system has a maximum detection range of over 300km, with an ranging accuracy of less than 6 metres. The radar system can track up to 10 targets simultaneously, and is supported by a distributed computer system. The control unit, which is also road-mobile, includes display and control consoles.
