Shaanxi Automobile Corporation first introduced the 15 tonne capacity SX2300 8X8 heavy duty truck in 1998 to compete with the 12 tonne capacity SX2270 developed by China National Heavy Duty Truck Corporation (CNHTC) for the bid of the PLA’s next generation heavy duty truck programme. The initial test of the vehicles were conducted in 2000. Both designs were delivered to the PLA in small numbers for trail and evaluations. The SX2300 was awarded the design certificate in November 2006 and is ready for batch production.
The SX2300 is powered by a Cummins LSM450 turbo-charged diesel, developing a maximum 331kW at 1800rpm.
