M99 12.7mm Sniper Rifle
Last updated: 16 February 2007
The M99 is a large-calibre, heavy anti-material sniper rifle developed by China Poly Group Corporation and 9656 Factory for the export market. The weapon was design certified in April 2005. The M99 resembles the British Accuracy International AS50 sniper rifle in appearance, but it differs to the latter in internal design.
The M99 sniper rifle uses gas-operated, semi-automatic bolt action. To achieve higher fire accuracy, the barrel is free-floated and fitted with a lage double baffle muzzle brake. The stroke gas piston is located above barrel and covered with thermal sleeve. The butt stock is fitted with recoil-reducing butt pad and a detachable rear monopod under the butt. The one-piece receiver is machined from aluminium alloy. The folding quick-detachable bipod with adjustable legs is fitted as a standard.
The M99 rifle fires 12.7mm cartridge in semi-automatic mode. The rifle is fed from a single-stack detachable box magazine, which holds five rounds. The weapon uses an 8X or 10X optical scope mounted on top of the receiver.
