The People’s Armed Police (PAP) is currently equipped with a shoulder-aimed laser dazzling weapon for riot control role. The weapon, which reportedly designated WJG-002, uses a bullpup design and is similar in size to the Heckler and Koch Close Assault Weapon System (CAWS). It can disrupt vision at 50m distance and is effective out of 100m. It can operate in temperatures between –200C to +500C. The laser’s wavelength is between 0.532~1.064nm.
The weapon has an iron sight as well as an optical scope fitted on top of the carrying handle. The battery, which weights 0.5kg, is fitted immediately behind the pistol grip. The total weight of the weapon is 5kg.
