EQ1093 Truck
In addition to the military-standard (EQ2xxx) Dongfeng trucks, the PLA has also acquired a large number of the commercial-standard (EQ1xxx) Dongfeng trucks for troop and cargo transportation. Unlike the EQ2-series trucks, the EQ1-series trucks were designed mainly for road travelling with very limited off-road capability. However, these trucks provide a low-cost alternative to the expensive military standard cross-country trucks for logistics role.
The Dongfeng EQ1093F6D is the latest variant of the DFM’s famous EQ140 series 5 tonne cargo truck first introduced in the late 1970s. The EQ1093F6D was developed in the 1990s using the Cummins diesel technology. The truck uses a 4X4 arrangement and is available in various configurations including cargo, workshop, dump, crane, fire engine, tanker, etc.
The EQ1093F6D is powered by a Dongfeng-made Cummins 6BT5.9 six-cylinder in line, 5.88 litre, liquid-cooled, turbo-charged, direct injection, 160hp diesel engine, with a 2-speed transfer case and a six-speed (five forward, one reverse) gear box. The fuel tank is 160 litre.
