TYPE 89 (PP89) 100MM MORTAR

China is the world’s only country that operates 100mm calibre mortar. The weapon is normally operated at regiment level by the light infantry troops stationed in southern China and airborne forces due to its light weight compared to the 120mm mortar. The Type 89 (also known as PP89) is the latest 100mm mortar design introduced by NORINCO in the early 1990s to replace the older generation Type 71 100mm mortar.
