The Type 80 was the single-barrel 14.5mm anti-aircraft machine gun (AAMG) designed to provide air defence and fire support for infantry battalions. The Type 80 was similar to the Type 75, but used a two-wheel carriage to replace the original tripod for increased mobility. The weapon is towed by truck for long-distance travelling and can be dissembled and carried by solders over a short distance. The weapon did not receive any order from the PLA and therefore was mainly for the export market.
