The PLA amphibious forces are equipped with a new armoured refuelling vehicle specifically designed for amphibious assault operations. The vehicle was developed from the ZHB94 armoured resupply vehicle, with an enlarged hull and two water jets at rear for high-speed sea travelling. The vehicle is capable of carrying 4,550 litres fuel inside its hull, and can refuel two armoured vehicles simultaneously at a rate of 250 litre/min. An additional 10 fuel drums can be carried on the vehicle's roof. Refuelling pumps, hoses, and winches are accommodated in the rear of the vehicle accessible via the rear door. The vehicle is fitted with a hydraulically actuated wave fence to the front to prevent the front section of the vehicle from being overflowed. It may also serve as a bow flap to aid planing during high-speed sea travelling. The vehicle is unarmed, with only smoke-grenade launchers for self-defence.
